One thousand-sixty-two gifts wrapped, 334 visitors, 340 volunteer hours and $4,172 in donations. That’s over 3 gifts on average wrapped every hour by our busy volunteers and for every visitor. Some days were busier than others of course; as Christmas came closer, the number of visitors and gifts rose. One visitor, only a couple of days before Christmas, left over 100 gifts to be individually wrapped! They were all done in time of course. Thank you to all who volunteered, to all who donated and to the Sherwood Park Mall for partnering with us to provide this service. A special thanks goes to Ron Dick who organized and coordinated the whole service, as well as wrapping many gifts.
While overall donations were down this year from last year, $4,172 in comparison to $4,652, this was primarily due to the reduction in the number of county residents who made use of the service, 334 over 16 days this year in comparison to 429 over 19 days last year.
Those who used the service were more generous than in past years, averaging a donation of $12.49 per person in comparison to $10.85 last year, a 15% increase in the average donation when the number of gifts wrapped rose only by 12%. Whatever way we add it up, we take pride in the fact that each of our volunteers brought in, on average, $12.27 per hour worked. A job well done by everyone!
Hope to see everyone again next year.
Just a few of our many, many supportive volunteers are pictured here.
