Planning Committee Needed!

Friends is Looking for Volunteers!

We’re forming a planning committee for our next exciting event we hope to make an annual event, and we need your help! This fundraising event will be geared toward children ages 2-8 and their parents or guardians, with a book-themed twist and favourite storybook characters joining the fun.

Kids will have a memorable morning with activities, breakfast with beloved characters, and other delightful experiences—all while supporting the library. Funds raised will go toward essential library resources provided by Friends of the Strathcona Library and help raise awareness of our mission within the community.

Join us in making this a magical event!

Possible Date: Spring 2025

Event Ideas:

  • Themed Tables & Characters: Each table will feature decor inspired by a beloved book, with characters matching the theme whenever possible.
  • Meet-and-Greet & Photos: Children can interact with characters roaming the venue, plus special photo opportunities with 1-2 standout characters (like a princess or superhero).
  • Fun Activities for All Ages:
    • Storybook Readings led by characters
    • Coloring Stations with book character sheets
    • Imagination Stations hosted by characters
    • Movie Area showing family-friendly films

Additional Fun:

  • Autograph Books (sponsored if possible) where kids can collect characters’ signatures, including sponsor coupons and special pages.
  • Book-Themed Decorations and Balloons: The venue will be transformed with vibrant, book-inspired decor and plenty of balloons to enhance the magical atmosphere.

Minimal announcements will keep the focus on fun, connection, and the storybook adventure.

Does this sound like something you’d love to help bring to life—or even make even better? We’d love your creativity and enthusiasm on our planning committee to make this a truly magical event for kids and families in our community!
